Bizruption at Marquee generated a more “refined” audience for the Sydney nightclub on the 5th of April 2017, with over two hundred, like-minded small business owners and industry leaders coming together to discuss innovation and industry disruption.
“Businesses that are able to fully digitally engage are those who will have the greatest opportunities going forward, and that’s why as a Government, we think it’s important to invest in supporting small businesses.” – Suzie Matthews on Business Connect
NetStripes was once again incredibly grateful to have so many great thinkers in attendance, as well as the talented and experienced special guests who took time out to come.
Great thanks must go to Chris Downy, the Managing Director of External Affairs at The Star, Marife Cruz and the entire team at The Star for sponsoring and making this event possible.
As Chris Downy said that evening, “The Star is the elephant in the room” when it comes to Pyrmont. As the “largest single signing employer in NSW,” The Star is a key industrial stakeholder in the region.
The proposal of new facilities for small businesses by The Star is a reminder that a collective effort involving government, commercial and community stakeholders is required to achieve our goal of mass industrial and commercial digitalisation.
We were incredibly privileged to have in attendance Suzie Matthews, the Director of Small Business Engagement at the NSW Department of Industry, who gave a very insightful impression as to how the NSW Business Connect program is pushing to rectify this issue.
The announcement of NetStripes as a NSW Business Connect service provider at last Bizruption sparked a frantic demand for our specialist, fully subsidised, One-on-One Advisory and it’s growing day by day.
“We [NSW Government] provide(s) independent one on one business advice with the first four hours free, and after that it’s seriously cheap, so highly subsidised.
You can also [use those four hours] attend a small group workshop where you learn really great skills that will help your business, or you can attend a larger group seminar, something like this where you can connect with other people.
But really, this is an opportunity for you. When you’re at a stage of your business to grow, or get started, you really need to get that vital support at those crucial stages, and that’s our commitment to you, we’re really here to help you.” – Suzie Matthews
All of our Business Connect strategists here at NetStripes are highly qualified and experienced individuals who are willing to make sure that your small business is ready not only for today, but for tomorrow as well.
We also had in attendance, the Former Managing Director of Facebook and Instagram Australia/NZ, Stephen Scheeler who gave insights into use of social media in online marketing.
As an MBA graduate from the AGSM at UNSW, Scheeler began his career as a consultant in Deloitte, before moving towards high profile positions in Westfield and Inchcape, and finally as the Director of Facebook and Instagram AU/NZ in 2015.
And a huge thanks to Claire Yistelle for her amazing magical performance that evening.
Our much anticipated Pitchfest is held again at this Bizruption! Entrepreneurs come together to pitch their ideas to a group of eight like minded small business owners. The winner of each group is given a chance to present to the whole Bizruption audience. As always, we were wowed by the talent and skill of everyone and the electrifying atmosphere on the night.
A shoutout to Evan Belogiannis for winning the social media competition that evening, taking home a very cool $250 gift voucher to use at The Star! Make sure you spread the #NetStripes and #Bizruption hashtags to win cool prizes just like this at our next Bizruption!
Finally, the greatest thanks must go to all of you who attended. Bizruption at its heart is driven by the community, and at the heart of every community is the people who drive it forward, you.
