Make sure you’re okay with making mistakes.
You will make mistakes when you start up a business. They’re a part of who we are and how we live our lives. But that doesn’t mean that mistakes are there to discourage you from achieving your goals.
Mistakes are like wound scars. When you get one, it hurts. But over time you get used to it and laugh it off.
But sometimes mistakes can also be like severe accidents. Those who live through them are part of the most capable alive. Going through these experiences will not only further your skills as an entrepreneur, but as a person.
Statistics are important, but not that important.
At the end of the day, numbers are just that, numbers. Numbers cannot replace the versatility of the human mind, nor do they have an ability to think critically.
Numbers don’t make decisions for you. You use numbers to make your decisions.
And that’s probably one of the most important points of starting up a new business. No matter how much research you conduct, how many SWOT analysis’s you complete and data you sift through, none of that is able to trump the sheer ability of your own mind.
The most important things in life are those that can’t be taken away from you.
A personal favourite of mine. We live in an uncertain world that is becoming even more so as each day passes. You can assess the risks, do the research and invest the time into your business, but never allow it to be more important than yourself.
Even when you’re busy running your business, engaging with clients and so on, never forget those around you; your family, your friends, and most importantly, yourself.
