In 1996, Prue Duffy’s initiation into Reiki ignited her interest in healing and spiritual development. With years of learning and experience in the industry, she started her own business A Bowen Clinic…and other Journeys in Dubbo NSW (a regional city north-west of Sydney), in October 2012.
Over the first 5 years, the business grew gradually, from one paying client a week to an average of 22-25 clients a week. However, in March 2018, the phone stopped ringing and Duffy was only treating 5-7 clients a week for the next 3 months.
Acknowledging digital change, Duffy knew something had to change, otherwise, her Bowen practice will close and no longer will people have the chance to be treated by Bowen.
During this time, she attended digital workshops, in hopes to help her launch into the 21st-century digital world. She formulated her social media strategy yet very soon procrastinated in her postings.

Finally, towards the end of August 2018, she attended the Netstripes Digital Bootcamp in Dubbo.
“Something in those 2 half-days brought everything together for me. This bootcamp helped me realise that what I didn’t know, didn’t matter. I just had to start doing it. There’s no right way and no wrong way. You just get a result.”
So she posted. Gradually, she built her digital engagement by responding to comments, posting quotes, testimonials, case studies, blogs and questions. She was receiving great results from her social media platforms, with likes, shares and comments. However, she was afraid that she was “adding to the noise out there”.

For Duffy, this was a revelation. Just when she thought she’d give up, this all kept her going.
From the beginning of September to October 2018, Duffy’s business brought in on average 2 new clients a week, that’s 27 clients in 11 weeks; 3 from word of mouth, 1 from Yellow Pages, 5 from LinkedIn Enquiries and the rest from Facebook.
As of January 2019, Duffy’s business brought in 50 new clients since the beginning of September. The consistency in her hard work supported by a marketing strategy has helped her path her business towards success.
