The talented team behind Bizruption would like to announce the appointment of NetStripes to the Business Connect program, which provides government-subsidised digital readiness advisory services to small businesses across New South Wales.
2017 started with a bang; and so did we. The team at NetStripes have been working round the clock to bring Bizruption to you in 2017, into WeWork Pyrmont, and into the hearts and minds of small business owners.
We hope that in 2017, Bizruption will continue to be the premier networking destination for small business owners across Australia.
We would like to thank Balder Tol, Director of WeWork for sponsoring us with the wonderful venue at WeWork Pyrmont, Emily Isla for her organisation on the evening, and Murray Hogarth and Lawrence Gibbons from the Pyrmont Ultimo Chamber of Commerce (PUCC) who collaborated and supported us with food and wine in conjunction with the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Thanks must also go to our panellists on “Start-up Success”; Murray Hogarth (PUCC), Gordon Burke (NetStripes Client and owner of 7Areas), and Ian Davidson (Co-founder of GoFar) for providing insightful discussion on the night.
We also thank our Guest of Honour, the incredibly experienced NSW Small Business Commissioner Robyn Hobbs for attending.
Hobbs possesses a strong background in small businesses, and is a prime link for startups in NSW to have their voices heard in the government.
She explained various resources that the government is providing to small businesses in NSW, focusing on the Business Connect program; urging startups to take advantage of the government funded program to get access to digital readiness advice as well as strategic digital planning.
Watch her speech here:
Her work in mitigating the current pains of establishing a small business is welcome news; and her vision of a strong Australian economy driven by small businesses is one well-shared by all of us here at NetStripes.
This comes in conjunction with the continued direction of the NSW Government to assist small enterprises by appointing NetStripes to provide a variety of services through the highly-subsidised Business Connect program, and NetStripe’s own commitment to increasing the digital presence of the thousands of businesses in New South Wales through personally tailored strategy plans.
But I’d also like to pay credit to Dinesh, Saadia and Angelo, and the NetStripes team, because it was really from meeting them at my very first interaction that I was persuaded how important it is to have a digital strategy, and it was fantastic to hear Gordon talk about the support he’s had from NetStripes, and that the NetStripes team are offering digital strategy support to all of New South Wales, not just people who come through.
Bizruption. – Robyn Hobbs OAM
As always, we round off our evening with Pitchfest, where a myriad of business ideas are pitched to each table, and each table’s finalists pitching to an audience of over 200 other entrepreneurs in the room.
With each contestant given 30 seconds to sell their business, the atmosphere was electrifying; and it’s fascinating to see so many brilliant minds coming forward to innovate fearlessly.
To conclude, let’s have one last inspirational word from our guest of honour, Robyn Hobbs.
You are so important to the New South Wales economy.
You are one of six hundred and ninety thousand, but in that, my belief is that small businesses are the heartbeat and backbone of the New South Wales economy. Without that we would have nothing, and if you actually took every small business out of a shopping centre, you wouldn’t have much left, so stand up and be counted. You are powerful, and thank you for what you do for New South Wales.
